Announcing the Second Annual Competition
July, 2002 in Edmonton, Canada

OVERVIEW
The Intelligent Go Foundation is pleased to announce that the second
annual 21st Century Championship Cup Competition will be held at the
University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on July 27 and 28,
2002. The competition will be held in conjunction with the 3rd
International Conference on Computers and
Games scheduled from July 25 through 27, to promote cross-fertilization
between the go authoring and games research communities.
The winning entrant will be presented the 21st Century Championship Cup, along with prize money of USD 500. The total purse amounts to USD 1,000 including prizes to be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd finishers.
The 21st Century Hall of Fame honors entrants contributing strongly to computer Go over the long term. To qualify, an author's entry must place in the top three in any three consecutive tournament years.

The competition will also feature an exhibition human-computer match, as well as presentations on computer Go.
