21st Century Cup 2001 Photo Gallery

In the rolling farmlands of southern Pennsylvania,
by the banks of the mighty Susquehanna River,
is located the historic city of York, once the capital of the United States,
and home of York College, host to the 2001 US Go Congress,
and its companion event, the 21st Century Cup computer go competition.
Anders Kierulf's SmartGo and Lei Xiuyu's (in red shirt) Wulu met in the first round,
as did Hiroshi Yamashita's Aya and William Newman's plodder.
Michael Reiss's (right) Go4++ started its successful quest for the championship against Tristan Cazenave's GoLois.
Meanwhile, Ryuichi Kawa's second-finishing Haruka played against Martin Mueller's Explorer.
In the second round, SmartGo met GNU Go, operated by Daniel Bump.
Moving into the second day, in the fourth round, Go4++ and Haruka, both 3-0, were paired.
In the fifth round, Wulu toppled the undefeated Go4++.
Go4++ went on defeat GNU Go in the sixth round.
On Thursday afternoon, five program authors gave well-attended lectures on various computer go topics.
